Robin Healthcare Scribe

Practice Without Paperwork.

Robin Healthcare came to us at an early stage to help them solve the problem of clinical documentation for doctors. Hatch Duo partnered with Robin to design their first production unit, which directly led to their first production run of units, as well as a Series A raise of $11.5 M in funding. Robin’s Scribe was designed to be an artificial intelligent assistant which helped streamline the clinical documentation process using voice/video so that doctors could focus on their patient instead of notes. It features a camera, rotatable cover for patient privacy, and low powered LEDs for indication of activity. The design takes essences from the Robin bird, while maintaining a clinical friendly look of professionalism. Hatch Duo worked with the team at it’s early stages directly on site in clinical settings to understand the environment and experience we were designing for. We meticulously iterated and developed the design through an integrated and expedited process of industrial design, hardware (EE) electrical engineering and mechanical engineering to achieve a working proof of concept, design ready for mass production, and even helped with art direction of a marketing photo-shoot.
We really tried to take every opportunity to design the details- the subtle pattern between the venting is reminiscent of an abstract bird feather pattern. It references "robin" the bird, and as a functional aspect, reflects the LED lighting from the inside.
